Powercast Powercast P1110-EVAL-01 Development Kit

Powercast P1110-EVAL-01 Lifetime Power® RF Energy Harvesting Wireless Power Development Kit is a complete platform for developing devices with remote, power-over-distance wireless charging capabilities using broadcasted RF energy (radio waves). Powercast’s embedded wireless power solution works in the far field for over-the-air charging of multiple devices – no wires, charging mats or direct line of sight needed. Behaving like Wi-Fi where enabled devices automatically charge over the air when within range of a transmitter, Powercast’s patented remote wireless charging is more convenient than inductive, coil-based charging that requires direct contact with a power source. 

The kit includes two RF transmitter options – Powercast's FCC-approved Powercaster® TX91501-3W for wirelessly charging industrial and commercial devices, and a first generation subassembly of the new PowerSpot® transmitter for wirelessly charging consumer devices. It also includes battery-recharging boards in typical device shapes (wristbands, smart cards), a Powerharvester® evaluation board, Powerharvester receiving antennas, and two Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) radio boards. 

The battery recharging boards utilize the P1110B Powerharvester Receiver, which converts RF energy into DC power. Either transmitter can be used to broadcast the RF energy, with both operating at 915MHz. The P1110-EVB evaluation board, including two antenna configurations, is included for further hands-on development with the Powerharvester receiver. The kit, configured for out-of-the-box operation, includes iOS and Android Apps. Attaching BLE radio boards to the smart card or wristband battery recharging boards allows developers to transmit measured charge current and battery voltage via BLE live, for cable-free monitoring. This enables testing of both configurations on battery recharging boards simultaneously. The P1110-EVB includes antennas to test and develop with the P1110B Powerharvester receiver. Like the Battery Recharge Boards, it converts RF energy into DC power which can be stored in a battery or capacitor, or used to directly power a circuit. The board includes two different antenna configurations.
