Healthy 16-bit Meter-on-Chip Precision with Analog Devices' ADuCM350 Now at Mouser
September 29, 2014 - Mouser Electronics, Inc. is now stocking the ADuCM350 16-Bit Precision Low Power Meter-On-A-Chip from Analog Devices. Optimized for system-level performance and signal measurement accuracy, the ADuCM350 is a complete, coin cell powered, high precision, meter‑on‑chip that targets portable applications that monitor health and wellness. The device features a precision analog front end (AFE) with a 16‑bit 160-kSPS analog-to-digital converter (ADC), +/-0.2% accurate voltage reference and a 12‑bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC). This single-chip, scalable platform supports full product development roadmaps from entry-level to feature‑rich devices, and its sensor fusion functionality allows designers to expand product measurement capabilities.
The Analog Devices ADuCM350 16-Bit Precision Low Power Meter-On-A-Chip, available from Mouser Electronics, features four voltage measurement channels, up to 8 current measurement channels, and an impedance measurement DFT engine. The ADuCM350 also includes a 16MHz ARM® Cortex-M3 core with 384KBytes of Flash memory, 32KBytes of SRAM, and 16KBytes of Flash-configured EEPROM memory - all with the I/O connectivity to support portable meters with display, USB communication, and active sensors.
Engineered with extensive power management capabilities, the ADuCM350 provides dynamic and software-controlled clock and power gating. The device is coin-cell battery compatible, has a 2.0V to 3.6V hibernate operation, a 2.5V to 3.6V active measurement range, a power management unit (PMU), power-on reset (POR) and power supply monitor (PSM).
The ADuCM350 communicates through a variety of interfaces, including an integrated audio driver for a beeper as well as an I2S port, LCD display controller (parallel and serial), LCD segment controller, serial peripheral interface (SPI), I2C, UART peripheral interfaces and programmable GPIOs.
Designed for high precision amperometric, voltametric, and impedometric measurement capabilities, the ADuCM350 supports a wide range of low-power applications ranging from wearable health monitoring devices, such as smart watches and sophisticated pedometers, to point-of-care diagnostics and vital signs monitoring devices that shorten hospital stays and allow for high quality monitoring from home.
The Analog Devices ADuCM350, is offered in an 8mm x 8mm, 120‑pin CSP BGA package, and has a fully scalable development platform that supports rapid feature expansion.
