Programmable Gain Amplifiers for Digital Multimeters

Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA) can adjust its gain based on external input and used to shape the output signal to the desired amplitude in response to external conditions. PGAs have a variety of applications, but one example of the use of a PGA is in data acquisition applications with a wide dynamic range; a PGA is a means of adjusting input signal levels to the downstream analog-to-digital converter (ADC). Other common applications for a PGA might be an automatic gain control (AGC) loop, instrumentation, sonar, photodiode circuits, or any sensor with a wide dynamic range. Learn More
